Janek Ledecký is one of the perennial star of the Czech music scene. The singer, composer and lyricist, whose songs have accompanied several generations of music devotees, decided to enter a new, unexpected stage of his career in 2024.
Mr. Everest is more than just another musical project. It is a manifesto of creativity, freedom and the courage to take risks, which Janek has been preparing for several years.
After hundreds of concerts and legendary hits such as "Proklínám", "Pěkná, pěkná, pěkná..." and "Na ptáky jsme krátky", Janek came up with a project where he broke free from expectations and took a step into the unknown. In his original arrangements, he revives Bob Dylan's songs from the 60s and 70s, which he revives in his own unique way for today's audience. In this way, he combines his authorial ambitions with respect for his musical roots and shows that classics can sound modern when done with feeling and passion.
As Janek explains: “Do you know why it’s called Mr. Everest? When Leonard Cohen was asked what he thought about Bob Dylan receiving the Nobel Prize for Literature, he said: Well, it’s like putting a sign on Mt. Everest saying THE HIGHEST MOUNTAIN IN THE WORLD.”
