Precedens

Precedens is a true legend of the Czech music scene and was one of its biggest phenomena of the 1980s. Their debut album Doba ledová fundamentally shaped Czech rock music at the time and is still rightly considered a cult classic. It was followed by the successful albums Věž z písku, Pompeje, and Aurora, which confirmed the band’s strong songwriting and musical qualities.

In its early years, Jan Sahara Hedl (who co-founded the band together with Martin Němec) was the frontman and main songwriter. Later, singer Bára Basiková took over the vocal role for many years with extraordinary success, performing an exclusively Martin Němec–written repertoire since 1984. After Basiková’s departure, Němec introduced new vocalist Petr Kolář, with whom the albums La, la, lá and Drž hudbu! were created, featuring hits such as “Jsi můj Anděl” and “Berlínská zeď”. After a short period of “hibernation,” during which Němec focused on his other band Lili Marlene, came a collaboration with singer Iva Marešová (music video V minulým životě).

Today, Precedens returns with a significantly rejuvenated line-up of excellent musicians, radiating strong energy enhanced by the charismatic and emotional voice of the outstanding singer Daniela Langrová. Their newest album Odstíny černé (2025) marks a new chapter in Precedens’ rich musical history and has received critical acclaim as well as a warm reception from listeners. Their live shows are becoming true events. In 2025, thanks to the votes of fans, Precedens was inducted into the Radio Beat Hall of Fame.

Precedens joins the Joe’s Garage family

As of 2025, Precedens is officially represented by the Joe’s Garage agency, which enthusiastically takes over the care of this legendary — and now perhaps more vibrant than ever — band. Joe’s Garage aims to strengthen Precedens’ live concert activities, expand their presence on both the Czech and international music scenes, and offer fans new experiences through their unique music that fuses tradition with a modern sound. Together, they are planning not only concerts, but also special projects that will highlight the band’s exceptional nature — including appearances on the hugely successful Czech Television (ČT art) show Ikony hosted by Kamil Střihavka, music video production, and more. The combination of time-tested hits such as Soumrak bohů or Doba ledová with their current work and the incredible energy of today’s Precedens makes their concerts a truly unforgettable experience.
